Presented as part of the Qatar-Mexico Year of Culture, Conductor Enrique Diemecke, whose recordings of Revueltas, Chávez, and Moncayo earned Mexico's Golden Record Award, leads the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra through an evening of colour and rhythm celebrating Mexican music. The programme opens with Márquez's Danzón No. 2, one of the most beloved orchestral works to come out of Latin America, alongside Chávez's Chacona and Galindo's spirited Sones de Mariachi. After the interval, Diemecke turns to Revueltas' Redes, a vivid, dramatic score from one of Mexico's most original musical voices. A rare chance to hear this repertoire led by a conductor who has made it his life's work.

Conductor Marcus Bosch (two-time Opus Klassik winner), leads the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme of storytelling. The evening opens with Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite, a shimmering fairy-tale score full of magic and menace. After the interval, Bosch turns to Gershwin with the effervescent An American in Paris, receiving its Qatar premiere, followed by Catfish Row, the symphonic suite drawn from “Porgy and Bess”. Three composers, three worlds; from Russian folklore to the streets of Paris and the American South.

In cooperation with the Europäische FilmPhilharmonie – EFP, Conductor Frank Strobel, a pioneer of the film-in-concert genre, leads the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra through the music behind some of cinema's most unforgettable moments, narrated by Manfred Callsen. From the sweeping desert vistas of Lawrence of Arabia and the thundering chariot race in Ben-Hur, to the time-travelling adventure of Back to the Future, and the bittersweet romance of La La Land. This is a night of music you already know and love, brought to life live.
