Carl was one of the early pioneers in the fledgling electronic music scene that emerged in South Africa in the 1990’s.
Having played practically at every major club and dance event in South Africa in the late 90s and contributing to the scene by having a monthly focus column in the Vibe magazine Carl partnered with Dj Darren Afrika and started hosting party’s and underground club nights and tours with the top local names and working with great international talent including Jon Dennis, Madame Friction, Steve Thomas, The Sharp Boys and the Belgian based Dance Opera crew. Carl also appeared on national radio station 5fm on several occasions contributing live mixes on Derek The Bandit’s Saturday night specialist dance show and was a driving force in the country’s only underground pirate radio station in Cape Town in 1998 together with Clint Lox and the Krushed and Sorted crew.
In 2004 he emigrated to London and spent the next year travelling spending six months in the Caribbean and hosting beach party’s on 7 Mile beach in the Cayman Islands. He also assisted in the founding of the Island’s only dance music station Spin FM and represented the station at the Winter Music Conference in Miami in 2005.
Since then he has contributed to the Qatar scene by hosting parties and events that have gained massive popularity and in the process gaining a dedicated following of fans.
He has also played at many of the higher profile parties in Qatar, Dubai, Oman and Bahrain playing the mainstage at the Qatar leg of HedKandi, Pasha and Defected as well as at Nasimi Beach and House of Afrika in Dubai. He has also had the honour of spinning alongside some of the top visitors to Doha including Danny Rampling, Smokin Jo, Nora en Pure and Vanilla Ace.
Last year saw him make his first trip to Ibiza where he played warm up to DJ Sneak, Kevin Sanderson and the Hard Times crew for Electric Ibiza.
His present musical style is eclectic ranging from sophisticated easy listening jazz through to pumping club trax and on to progressive Tech-trance, always hugely influenced by the dance underground.
DJ Terio’s high energy sets incorporate progressive melodies and upbeat rhythms to deliver a vibe that gets the dance-floor rocking every time. His mix of underground, deep and vocal house, nu-disco and club bangers create sweet stories that carry the dancer out of their troubles and into booty-shaking bliss.
He has played with a big international names such as: Ali n Fila (Egypt), Cosmic Gate (Germany), Tim Cullen (UK Ministry Of Sound), Jack Eye Jones (USA), Pascal Roth (France), Juan Diaz (Pacha Ibiza), Garham sahara (Pacha Ibiza), Taoo Kros (Pacha Ibiza), John Jacobsen (Café Mambo), Camilo Franco (Space Ibiza), DJ Seherezade (Hungary), Edu Natord (W hotel Barcelona), Debbie de Jung (Amsterdam) And Many MORE …
They have brought him all the right attention and he is now well established in Doha.
Every week, we have some of world renowned house DJ's rotating with local talents, all will be playing their unique style of eclectic deep house music with a twist of tech house beats.
